Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! We had a mini egg hunt this morning in our living room. The girls were hilarious. They were a little cranky at first when they weren't immediately served breakfast but warmed up to the concept when they figured out marshmallows and chocolate were involved. I wonder what was going through their minds. I also wonder if they expect to be greeted with candy filled eggs tomorrow morning. hmm...

The girls wouldn't let me get a good picture of them this morning but they looked adorable.



My Babies Can Read (just not in English...) haha

The girls LOVE books (yay!). As an added bonus they love "reading" on their own almost as much as they enjoy being read to. They usually won't let me get any pictures or videos of them reading, as soon as they seem me they need me to read to them. The other day I snuck up on them enjoying some books. Be fore-warned the video quality isn't the best as I was zoomed in BUT it's still pretty cute.

Cock-A-Doodle-Doo!

Animals are a beloved topic in our home. We are surrounded by animal noises, books and well actual animals. Soooo...this weekend we took the girls to a petting farm. Ok, so it was more like a small collection of baby animals.



The girls were a little hesitant at first.





There were these baby roosters cockerals. They were so noisy.





Jenni & Georgia and a baby bunny. We worked extra hard on learning how to be gentle. Maybe this will translate to less kitty squishing in our house.

  



Madelyn actually pet this woman's leg instead of the chicken. haha.




Georgia was especially interested in meeting this sleepy calf.  



No one sleeps long when they are around determined toddlers...

Egg-cellent Afternoon

Happy almost Easter everyone! I think you all know where we're headed with this post. Yup, coloring eggs. One of our favorite NICU nurses, Miranda came over for some egg coloring festivities. We had all the best supplies - coloring kits, glitter, stickers, eggs and 4 little helpful hands.



I think Madelyn knew whatever was about to happen was going to be so FUN!





Who needs dipping tools? Hands seem to work just fine.



Maddy looks like she's waiting patiently for her egg to color. Not exactly... I had a hard time convincing her not to eat or drink our little craft.

Oh man... look at that beautiful egg.  This was about the point in the coloring process that I realized we should have just stripped the girls. I should have known those smocks were no match for them. Oh well, nothing a little lot of laundry detergent can't handle.

We told Georgia to look at her hands and she was amazed. Yeah... they are still blue. 

Maddy finally got to eat one of her eggs.

So did Georgia... and her blue hands.

I fully understand why people don't do these types of activities with toddlers. It's a lot of work and mess. BUT it's also a lot of fun. To be honest the girls were better than I was. I spilled not 1 but 2 cups of dye. Yes... I'm sure Craig is not surprised as my butterfingers are somewhat famous in our family.

Little Hands Can Bake Too (well... kinda)

We have just been having WAY too much fun in the kitchen lately. Yesterday afternoon we ventured into the kitchen to create some cookies. Trying to cook or bake with two little monkeys scaling my legs is a little difficult so I thought "put those monkeys to work!" So today, please allow us to walk you through our Oatmeal Raisin Cookie recipe.

Step 1 - Measure Vanilla

Step 2 - Measure Cloves

Step 3 - Add Crisco

Step 4 - Shake salt while making silly noises!

Step 5 - Measure Brown Sugar

Step 6 - Pack in Brown Sugar

Step 7 - dump in bowl

Step 8 - SMILE!

Step 9 - Get a new measuring cup...

Step 10 - Eat flour.

Step 11 - Assess damage.



Step 12 - Rinse, wash & repeat.




Step 13 - Share your cookies with Daddy (shhh.. don't tell him about the baby spit extra special ingredients.)




Full disclosure - these were made for real people outside of our family (haha) and we only used CLEAN measuring implements!

Exciting New First!

Last week the girls celebrated a big "first." First bowl of soup! Exciting, right? haha. We had grilled cheese and tomato soup last week and I was feeling brave so I offered the girls their own little bowl of soup. They were so cute we had to show Craig over the weekend. Please allow them to illustrate through photos the correct way to eat soup.

Step 1 - Dip sandwich in soup.

When you are finished move the cat and wash your soupy clothes.
