Happy Birthday Sofia!

Two years. At some point I blinked and time flew past and Sofia grew into her personality.

She is sassy.

She craves independence and adventure. She will be the one to call me and tell me she is getting ready to jump out of a plane.

I have been hearing the words "I do dat self!" for at least 6 months now.

She is not afraid to get messy.

We're talking REALLY messy.

She loves fiercely and is so loved. Sofia, I hope you know just how loved you are for simply being who you are.

Happy birthday to our beautiful girl! Today we celebrate the fact that the world is a better place because you are in it! You are destined for greatness little lady.

I can hardly wait to see what you have in store for the next year. I promise to try and keep up with you!

Rockclimbing

This past fall Maddy & Georgia spent 7 weeks learning how to rock climb. It was so much fun to watch!

While one student was climbing the others had a chance to practice on balance beams and obstacles and learn about the different kinds of rocks.

As the weeks passed they both became more comfortable with climbing and were able to progress up the wall easier.

In their final class they both made it to the top of the wall! Proud would be an understatement of a description of the looks on their faces after accomplishing this feat.

A big thanks to the YMCA for offering such a unique and empowering class to little ones. And a HUGE thanks to Mr. Jake and Mr. Kyle for helping and encouraging the girls each week!

Camping

Oh yeah, you know I LOVE to camp! The dirt, cold and hard ground... ok realistically, not so much.

BUT we did "go camping" last night! A couple of girls were pretty excited to see this in our living room when they got home from school yesterday.

They promptly filled it with all of their assorted blankets, pillows and stuffed animal friends. After a special pizza dinner out (no we didn't have a campfire) we piled in and read some stories with our flashlights.

We even got to sleep under the stars with some assistance from the girls' nightlight.

I only lasted a few hours before I woke up realizing the floor is not my favorite place to sleep (I sent Craig in as backup when the girls asked me to come back in the middle of the night) gotta love that guy! The girls had fun and woke up giggling in the morning.

Someday they will not think camping in the living room is fun or exciting but for now it was a great way to spend a Friday night.

Student of the Month - Compassion

Look who was picked as student of the month for December for showing compassion to others! Each month the school focuses on a character trait. The students spend the month learning about and focusing on that particular character trait and at the end of the month a student is chosen from each classroom for exemplifying that particular character trait. I love this girl so much and she really is full of compassion (when she isn't being sassy) The award comes with a free pizza from a local pizza place which of course was the exciting part for her.

Georgia wanted to know where her award was... Maddy told her "I won and you didn't, but I'll still let you have a piece of pizza." Maybe not the MOST compassionate answer (shhh) but at least she is willing to share, right?

Woo! Go Maddy!

Babysitting

Georgia asked me to babysit tonight so she could go on a date. Uh oh.
