Toilet Paper

For the past few days there have been some opposing forces in this house.

1. Three small children who aren't timid with their toilet paper usage and often view it as a good option for a streamer.

2. The discovery that we are down to our last roll of toilet paper in each bathroom.

I have made a brazen (or dumb) move to continue putting off the purchase of more toilet paper. The one time I have been to the store this week I actually forgot this little necessity. So as I am planning out our afternoon and making a plan to evacuate the house after nap and purchase said necessity the UPS truck pulls away and I spot a large box of Charmin (the good stuff) in my doorway.

(stick with me... there's a point to this story I swear)

I did not buy the toilet paper and I am 100% convinced Craig doesn't even realize we need toilet paper yet.

So... someone who cares about us bought us toilet paper and has completely made my day. In my opinion this is the kind of gift that shows someone you care. It isn't flashy and it isn't fun to buy but it is unexpected and says "hey, here's something to make your life a little easier and show you someone is listening."

Thank You

Here's to friends who buy you toilet paper, I hope you all have some!

Obese

According to the CDC and our latest pediatrician visit one of these girls is overweight and the other is nearly obese.

No, I'm not kidding...

and neither was their pediatrician when she said that maybe we should re-evaluate their eating habits and switch them to skim milk.

Am I alone in thinking this is a little odd?

Apparently Georgia believes in reincarnation.

She just told me; "mommy, next time I hope you have brown eyes like me, they would be pretty."

Beach Bums

The beach has been a regular hot spot of ours this summer. It's a lot of work but totally worth it. On more than one occasion I have actually been able to enjoy some adult conversation with other moms as my kids play happily in the sand and shallow water.

More than once Craig has come home to realize we spent the day in our swimsuits while he was at work... sometimes this stay at home mom gig has it's perks. Remind me of these shiny days when everyone is sick with the flu or suffering from cabin fever.

This weekend we took Craig along to Millenium park. Millenium has pretty much everything you would want  in the summer with small children. Beach, splashpad, bathrooms, paddle boats, a park and even ice cream if you're a sucker for concession stands.

They are women on a mission...

We hit the splashpad first this time and then headed to the beach.

Disclaimer... I did not make this turtle but I did find it :)

and my kids kinda destroyed it... good thing it's creators were gone already.

Hope you are all enjoying your summer. Don't be afraid to get your sand in your toes, it washes out easily :)

Happy 4th!

For the 4th of July most people watch fireworks. I watch my kids watch fireworks...

The girls did a great job waiting patiently for the fireworks show to begin.

We watched lots of paper lanterns being released into the sky as darkness fell.

Then the real show began. Every year we join Craig's parents at the Sandy Pines for a spectacular show with minimal stress. Georgia is obviously having a horrible time :)

We weren't sure how Sofia was going to handle the fireworks. Last year she slept through them. Well this year she rotated laps for a while until she ended up in her own chair chanting "boom!" after every explosion.

I didn't get a good photo of her but I did capture this...

Lovely...

Each year this holiday becomes a little more fun and a little less crazy. One day I'm sure the girls won't want to go see fireworks with me or in the very least they won't let me take crazy photos of them watching fireworks. In light of that I intend to enjoy every sleep deprived moment of this very loud, late night holiday.

Happy 4th of July everyone... and if you live in my neighborhood please note it is now the 8th of July which means the 4th has passed and with it the need to be obnoxious with your own lame but obscenely loud fireworks has also expired so save the rest for labor day people, or dump em in the lake.
