Rainy Day

It's gray and rainy outside today. A perfect day to stay in your pajamas and read a couple of good books... or have Madelyn read them to you :)

Easter Eggs

We painted Easter eggs with Miranda again and this year Rylyn got to help! Ok... so I think she was more interested in her cereal puffs and just being cute! Someone else was also very interested in the cereal puffs.

Miranda found these cool "no mess" egg coloring kits. We figured out that if used gently by adults they were actually spill free. When used by 2 yr olds... not so much.

We went out to lunch afterwards with green and blue hands.

Someone had too much fun...

Feeding the Fish

A couple of weeks ago we spent the day visiting my parents. It was Sofia's first trip and she handled the hour and a half car ride like a peaceful angel.

One of my favorite things about visiting my parents (besides their company... obviously :) is seeing Gizmo. Gizmo is a 14 yr old mixed terrier type dog. He has been a cranky, but lovable old man since he was a puppy and the only thing that has changed is his size. I don't know what they're feeding him but he looks larger and rounder everytime I see him. Here he is begging Georgia for a bite of her cheesestick. 

Something about this picture makes Georgia look so grown up to me...

It was a gorgeous day and the girls got to go out to the pond and help Grandma feed the fish. The pond is full of fat and lazy catfish, bass and a few perch. The catfish are gigantic and the girls got a kick out of watching them swim up to the top to get the food and pointing out their "whiskers".

 Even Charlie had some fun with the fisheys :)

The girls have been really into singing songs lately. Here's Maddy's version of "Jesus Loves Me"

Impression 5

Last Saturday we headed to Lansing to spend some time with Craig's parents. We decided to meet up at Impression 5 Science Center. Impression 5 describes themselves as an interactive space for families to play, create, and challenge their understanding of science through hands-on exhibits and participatory educational programming. So basically lots of learning through play... which I love! This place has been around for quite a while, I vaguely remember visiting when I was little.

They have a great area designed just for kids under 4 with a climbing area, slides, pretend play and an impressive water table. That was of course the girls' favorite!

 The floor of this play area was clear plexiglass. The girls were so hesitant to walk over it at first.

They quickly tackled that fear!

Another favorite activity was undressing this poor doll... I'm not sure I understand why but they needed to take her pj's off about 20 times.

Just outside the play area was this giant tree.

In the main area of the science center there are lots of exhibits explaining different machines, weather, light, etc... Maddy liked driving the "loader"

The girls were also big fans of the various tennis ball launchers.

Afterwards we headed down the street to Clara's for dinner. An old depot in Lansing that has been turned into a yummy restaurant with lots of history.

As always, Sofia had a blast! :)

Disney on Ice

Last month we took all the girls to the Disney on Ice show. We were planning on purchasing tickets but then Craig's co-worker Laura won tickets from the local radio station and gave them to us! Yay! So on Sunday evening we loaded up and headed downtown to see Mickey Mouse!

The show featured songs from some of their favorite Disney movies like the Lion King.

The girls were mesmerized by all the lights and excitement. 

 

Even Sofia seemed to be enjoying the show :)

The girls were too little to keep their seat down and see so we spent most of the show juggling all 3 girls from lap to lap to keep everyone happy.

 At intermission I found myself thankful for the first time that the girls are not potty trained. haha. The restroom lines were miles long with squirmy toddlers. We did however visit the INCREDIBLY overpriced souvenir booths. We headed back to our seats with 2 blue slushies in light up cups but missing $30 :( I wouldn't normally pay $15 for some blue ice chips but we didn't pay for anything else... including tickets so I felt like it was a fun splurge!

 Peter Pan was featured in the 2nd half and Maddy was all about clapping for Tinkerbell.

Thank you Laura for the tickets! We had a great evening out on the town... blue mouths and all.

It must be bedtime...
