Summer Lovin!

We are lovin' summer over here... even though it has been miserably hot, too often. Luckily, that is the perfect time to go swimming. 

or surfing :)

We have been busy crossing things off of our summer bucket list:

4th of July Fireworks

For fireworks on the 4th we headed over to the Sandy Pines and spent the evening with Aunt Pat and Uncle Duane. It was about 150 degrees out but the girls didn't seem to mind. They were over the moon about the firework display. Nearly every single one got a "wow" or "oooooh" out of them. 

Build-A-Bear

Build A Bear was part of the girls' birthday present from Grandma D.

Did you happen to notice the underwear on Georgia's cat? I was TOTALLY trying to coach her on a girlier/cuter selection but no... she was sold on her decision for some "whitey tighties"

Chalk Paint

 Chalk painting (equal parts cornstarch and water + food coloring) quickly turned into Charlie painting.

Picking Blueberries

We picked blueberries not once but 3 times. This was the response I got when I asked Georgia to show me the blueberries she picked.

Whitecaps Game

Technically we went to less than half of a Whitecaps game (local minor baseball team) since we didn't show up until the 6th inning.

 Who am I kidding? We were mainly there for the fireworks.

Slime and Moon Sand

We have made slime (borax + white glue)

and moon sand (baby oil + flour)

Ice Cream

LOTS of trips to get ice cream...

Flying Kites

Maddy came up to me with tears in her eyes because she couldn't ride ON the kites. Apparently we need to go hang gliding one day... in like 20 years or so.

I brought a blanket but Sofia LOVED crawling through the grass.

In addition to all our "bucket list" activities we have been having lots of fun practicing our tricycles...

We have about a month left and some pretty big projects still ahead of us!

Pretty Dress

Last night we visited a (gorgeous) park, looking for something to do after dinner. Well, there happened to be a wedding going on while we were there. The girls quietly walked close enough to watch (yes, I did feel a little like a stalker) and were mildly interested... until they saw "the pretty dress."  As soon as they spotted the bride they were both mesmerized. We tried to get them back to the swings or the slide or anything but they just stood and stared.

The wedding ended and guests dispersed and the girls waited patiently to see the bride leave. As she left, one of her bridesmaids pointed out the girls and she stopped and waved at them. This look of awe and amazement passed over Maddy and Georgia's faces as they slowly returned her wave. I have never seen them look so amazed, there was some serious hero worship going on.

Last night we pulled out our wedding album and showed the girls mommy's "pretty dressed" and explained a little bit about getting married (or "mannied" if you pronounce it the Georgia way) and they both demanded told me they wanted to wear a pretty dress.

If they could understand I would tell each of them that one day, WAAAAY in the future (like 50 or 60 yrs from now :) if they choose to get "mannied" they will be the most beautiful brides... and that man they are walking down the aisle to better know how beautiful and wonderful they are, inside and out.

So, congrats to the random couple who got married last night... from two of the cutest wedding crashers around.

With that said... to hold their attention in the future I shall be donning my wedding dress daily now :)
